My training style is grounded in sport strength and conditioning with hints of powerlifting, but also catered to the individual. After a comprehensive assessment of your history, movement, injuries, and goals, I will coach you through a personalized program so that you can get the most out of our time together. I have 2 main specialties: the first is those who are brand new to strength training. The gym can be a scary place for a newcomer, and I am here to assist you towards your goals. The second is teenage athletes, primarily hockey and rugby players. Each sport has special considerations and we can work throughout the year to improve your strength, explosive power, conditioning, recovery, and stamina.

I have really enjoyed training with Hil. She is incredibly knowledgeable and obviously enjoys what she does. She brings positive energy and enthusiasm to each training session. She is able to explain each movement or exercise, and takes the time to make sure you understand. She is very kind and soft spoken, but isn’t afraid to yell at you when you try and slack off on that last set. She held me accountable for missed gym sessions, and has really helped me improve my discipline.
When I started training with Hil, I was unfit, overweight and struggling with some nagging chronic injuries. My end goal was to get fit enough to play rugby again. Hil worked with my physiotherapist to identify and target certain areas where I needed improvement. She was able to develop a program to meet my specific needs for rehabilitation. As I got healthier and stronger, she altered the workouts and continued to challenge me to improve. She was always flexible to throw new exercises my way and keep the workouts interesting and challenging.
We have recently started on a powerlifting program, and I always look forward to seeing what punishment she has in store for me each week.
What have you enjoyed so far?
I have really enjoyed the time in the gym with Hil. She has a very calm and easy going personality. She really takes the time to explain each exercise. She is very strict about your form and watches you like a hawk to make sure you aren’t cheating and stay safe.
What has our time together helped you with?
Most importantly: Discipline. Strength, flexibility, speed, and just overall health and wellbeing. Hil has encouraged me to set fitness goals and helped me to work towards and achieve those goals.
What positive changes have you noticed, either in or out of the gym?
Since starting training with Hil, I have lost nearly 30 pounds. I feel fitter than I have in 5 years and have a much more positive outlook on life.
I have been training with Hil for about 8 months and have experienced a significant increase in strength, flexibly and agility. She has the ability to inspire me to push harder than I would on my own, while making sure that I don’t do anything that would set me back.
